READY TO TAKE ACTION?

In the long work of elevating Wet’suwet’en hereditary governance, there are many ways that supporters can step into movement through action.

Please continue to organize in support of #wetsuwetenstrong. Thank you to everyone who has stood up.

This toolkit is for grassroots activists wishing to take part in solidarity with the Wet’suwet’en and pressure key decision makers to #KilltheDrill

PHYSICAL ENGAGEMENT

There are many ways to show up. If you are unable to come to Gidimt’en Checkpoint and wish to support the work, appreciate that there are front-lines in every town. Research contracting companies, seek out public engagement opportunities, understand the role of the law in facilitating industry, and mobilize around this informed and broad application of pressure.

PUT PRESSURE ON CGL’S CONTRACTORS

Every company has a head office some where. Consider even the impact of poor reviews, comments on social media, phone calls to their HR departments. It doesn’t take a lot to do a lot.

TAKE DIRECT ACTION with beautiful rising

“Beautiful Rising is written by and for frontline activists — particularly youth, women, indigenous peoples, and others who face discrimination on the basis of their sexual orientation, gender identity, ethnicity, class, race, or religion. Guided by the needs of the movements and activists we work with, we seek to prioritize local voices and local leadership at every stage.”

This toolkit introduces activists to action analysis, tactics, principals, theories and methodologies. Skill up.

“Every discipline has its forms of action: ballet dancers lunge and pirouette; boxers throw jabs and uppercuts. Likewise, creative activists have their own forms of action. Some, like a sit-in, march or picket line, have been used for generations. Others, like flash mobs and hashtag campaigns, are recent innovations. As with ballet or boxing, a single tactic, no matter how well executed, rarely wins the day. Victory comes, if it comes, through creative combination and variation.”
