Other Frontlines to Support

DONATE TO THE LIKHT’AMISYU VILLAGE

The mission of the Sovereign Likhts’amisyu is to slow the acceleration of climate change and to restore and protect the biodiversity of our region. We strive to continue to educate and alert people about the affects of oil and gas extraction on our biosphere. Our litigation team is poised to help us take the lead in enforcing and changing Environmental Law so that it reflects the crisis in which we are all in today.

On October 17th, Lihkt’samisyu Chiefs Dsta’hyl and Tsebesa took action as Coastal Gaslink workers continued to trespass on Wet’suwet’en territory in violation of Wet’suwet’en laws and Canada’s own constitution. The Chiefs instructed Coastal Gaslink to remove all equipment from Lihkts’amisyu territory immediately, indicating that otherwise it would be decommissioned and seized by the Likht’samisyu Clan in accordance with its laws. Support them in their continued work of re-occupying and protecting their traditional territories.

DONATE TO THE GITXSAN LEGAL DEFENCE FUND

Following the brutal and militarized raids on Gidimt’en Territory on November 18th and 19th, 2021, legal defence funds are once again needed to support Land Defenders and supporters facing charges.
(The Gidimt’en Checkpoint legal defence fund is currently on hold as we strategize with our legal team)

The Gitxsan Hereditary Chiefs and supporters answered the call the the people of canada to uphold the Aboriginal Title of the Wet’suwet’en Hereditary Chiefs. Many Gitxsan felt obligated to act, as for millennia they have been allies of the Wet’suwet’en and have a modern alliance in defense of the traditional lands of the Gitxsan and Wet’suwet’en in the Delgamuukw/Gisday Wa court case. Support them now with their outstanding and growing legal costs.

DONATE TO THE TYENDINAGA LEGAL DEFENCE FUND

e-transfer to: singh@maatlegal.ca

Haudenosaunee land Defenders who supported the Wetsuweten defending their lands against corporate encroachment on their traditional UNCEDED territory, and police brutality by the RCMP. 20 plus land Defenders are facing expensive legal fees after setting up a demonstration by the CN tracks on Wyman Rd in February 2020.

Join us to help raise funds for these unjust legal fees that disproportionately fall on indigenous land defenders and communities, challenging the theft of their lands by colonial governments and corporations. Please make legal donations to our legal team at singh@maatlegal.ca.
